Week 8 — Future Predictions

Posted a week out, on Sun Oct 25 — and adjusted daily. Each game shows its full anticipation, its swing factor (what would move or flip the pick), and a running log of every change from the day before. Byes: Texans, Saints, Giants, 49ers.

Carolina Panthers @ Green Bay Packers — Thursday Night

Thu Oct 29, 8:15 PM ET · Lambeau Field · Market: Packers −3, ~60%

Early pick: Packers 63% Medium · Projected: Packers 27, Panthers 20

Anticipation

Carolina flies north on a short week off the worst loss of its season — 43–13, four turnovers, 258 rushing yards allowed. Green Bay just lost a 20–17 knife fight at Detroit but outplayed long stretches of it, and gets this one at Lambeau. Jordan Love (274 yards, 2 TD at Detroit) against a defense that could not stop the run is the core mismatch.

Swing factor

Young's ball security on the road; and Green Bay's kicking — Trey Smack has missed 7 field goals this season including two at Detroit (one blocked). In a one-score projection, that is a real margin risk and caps this at Medium.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 63%.

Baltimore Ravens @ Buffalo Bills

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · Highmark Stadium · Market: Bills −3, ~60% · Highest total of the week (52.5)

Early pick: Bills 62% Medium · Projected: Bills 28, Ravens 24

Anticipation

Buffalo is rested off its bye. Baltimore just gave up 35 unanswered to Cincinnati without Lamar Jackson — and everything about this pick runs through his practice week. With a limited or returning-from-layoff Lamar, Buffalo's rest and home edge carry it. With no Lamar again, it is not close.

Swing factor

Lamar Jackson's status is the single biggest daily mover on this board. Out → Bills toward 72%. Full practice all week → Bills toward 55% and a shootout lean.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 62%, explicitly priced on a questionable Lamar.

Tennessee Titans @ Cincinnati Bengals

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · Paycor Stadium · Market: Bengals −9.5/−10, the week's biggest favorite

Early pick: Bengals 78% High · Projected: Bengals 30, Titans 17

Anticipation

Cincinnati's offense just hung 35 unanswered on Baltimore with Burrow dealing four second-half touchdowns. Tennessee fought Cleveland to a 3-point game — game, but outclassed in the passing game, and this is on the road.

Swing factor

Only a Burrow injury or a Bengals turnover collapse moves this. It is the week's one High — posted under the new discipline because the edge is at quarterback and Tennessee's ball security is the weaker one.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 78%.

Arizona Cardinals @ Dallas Cowboys

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · AT&T Stadium · Market: Cowboys −6 · Total 52.5

Early pick: Cowboys 71% Medium · Projected: Cowboys 31, Cardinals 24

Anticipation

The shootout slot. Dallas's offense (8th in EPA/play, Lamb + Pickens) against an Arizona team that just gave up 30 to Denver — including two explosive rushing touchdowns. Arizona can score enough on Dallas's defense (20+ allowed in every game) to keep this inside two scores, which is why a 71% pick still only projects +7.

Swing factor

Whatever Monday night costs Dallas — injuries or a physical loss in Philadelphia carry directly into this number.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 71%.

Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · Ford Field · Market: Lions ~60%

Early pick: Lions 57% Medium · Projected: Lions 24, Vikings 21

Anticipation

The division's heavyweight game: undefeated Minnesota (6–0) at a Detroit team that just beat Green Bay on a walk-off kick. Detroit's offense was the more explosive unit Sunday (Goff 303 yards, St. Brown 153); Minnesota's defense has been the more reliable one all season, holding Indianapolis to 10. Divisional home-field is worth less (~1.5 points), which is why Detroit's edge is a field goal and not more.

Swing factor

Injury reports on both lines; if Minnesota's defense is at full strength this tightens toward a coin-flip.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 57%, made the night Detroit won.

Indianapolis Colts @ Jacksonville Jaguars

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · EverBank Stadium · Market: Jaguars −7, ~77%

Early pick: Jaguars 74% Medium · Projected: Jaguars 27, Colts 17

Anticipation

Jacksonville comes off its bye with the rest edge, at home, against a Colts offense that produced 10 points at Minnesota. This is a spot pick as much as a talent pick — bye-rested home favorite against a limited offense.

Swing factor

Any Colts quarterback change; Jacksonville's own post-bye flatness is the modest counter-risk keeping it Medium.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 74%.

Las Vegas Raiders @ New York Jets

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · MetLife Stadium · Market: near pick'em

Early pick: Jets 53% Coin-flip · Projected: Jets 20, Raiders 19

Anticipation

The week's truest coin-flip, and it is one player's knee: Breece Hall was ruled out Sunday and the Jets immediately lost at home to a winless team. With Hall, the Jets' run game is the best unit in this matchup. Without him, Las Vegas — competitive in stretches against the Rams — is the better roster on the field.

Swing factor

Hall's status flips this pick outright. This is the game the daily adjustment exists for: expect movement here before anywhere else.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 53% Jets, explicitly Hall-dependent.

Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · Acrisure Stadium · Market: Steelers ~62%

Early pick: Steelers 64% Medium · Projected: Steelers 23, Browns 17

Anticipation

Both teams won ugly in Week 7 — Pittsburgh 16–10 in Paris, Cleveland 27–24 behind Judkins (96 yards, 2 TDs). The divisional rematch discount applies: these two compress each other's margins. Pittsburgh's home defense against a one-dimensional Cleveland offense is the lean.

Swing factor

Judkins vs the Pittsburgh front — if Cleveland runs for 150+, this is a last-possession game.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 64%.

Atlanta Falcons @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Sun Nov 1, 1:00 PM ET · Raymond James Stadium · Market: near pick'em, Bucs ~53%

Early pick: Buccaneers 55% Coin-flip · Projected: Buccaneers 26, Falcons 23

Anticipation

Two of Week 7's most impressive winners. Penix threw 3 touchdowns with no interceptions on San Francisco; Tampa ran for 258 yards and won by 30 while Mayfield barely had to throw. Home field plus the run game is the tiebreak — barely.

Swing factor

If Atlanta's passing game travels, this flips. Watch both teams' defensive injuries mid-week.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 55%.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Los Angeles Rams

Sun Nov 1, 4:05 PM ET · SoFi Stadium · Market: Rams ~77%

Early pick: Rams 75% Medium · Projected: Rams 28, Chargers 17

Anticipation

The Rams' offense is the form unit of the week — Stafford threw 3 first-half touchdowns at Las Vegas with Nacua back and scoring. The Chargers' injury-depleted roster is the worst health situation in the league until proven otherwise, even off a bye.

Swing factor

Chargers reinforcements off the bye; any Stafford/Nacua practice limitation reverses the direction fast.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 75%.

Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos

Sun Nov 1, 4:25 PM ET · Mile High · Market: Chiefs −1.5

Early pick: Chiefs 54% Coin-flip · Projected: Chiefs 21, Broncos 20

Anticipation

Posted while Kansas City is playing in Seattle tonight — this number will move on that result. Denver just put 30 on Arizona without Surtain, with explosive rushing touchdowns from Nix and Harvey. Altitude, a divisional discount, and a Broncos team that believes it belongs: the market's −1.5 says coin-flip, and the early call agrees.

Swing factor

Tonight's SNF outcome and Kansas City's health; Surtain's return for Denver pushes this toward Denver.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 54%, flagged for a Monday-morning revision after SNF.

New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins

Sun Nov 1, 4:25 PM ET · Hard Rock Stadium · Market: Patriots −8, ~77%

Early pick: Patriots 76% Medium · Projected: Patriots 27, Dolphins 16

Anticipation

New England lost a Thursday shootout to Chicago 30–24 but remains one of the league's strongest rosters; Miami's first win (28–25 over the Hall-less Jets) does not close a gap the market prices at 8 points.

Swing factor

Miami's momentum is real but thin; New England's extra rest (Thursday game) quietly widens the edge.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 76%.

Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders — Sunday Night

Sun Nov 1, 8:20 PM ET · Northwest Stadium · Market: Commanders −3.5, ~65%

Early pick: Commanders 66% Medium · Projected: Commanders 24, Eagles 17

Anticipation

Washington is rested off its bye. Philadelphia plays Monday night with a backup quarterback (Hurts on IR), a backup-heavy receiver room and a freshly hole-punched offensive line — then travels on a short week. Unless Hurts' timeline changes, this is Washington's game to lose.

Swing factor

Any Hurts return news reprices everything; Monday night injuries to McKee or the line deepen Washington's edge.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 66%.

Chicago Bears @ Seattle Seahawks — Monday Night

Mon Nov 2, 8:15 PM ET · Lumen Field · Market: Seahawks ~60%

Early pick: Seahawks 59% Medium · Projected: Seahawks 24, Bears 20

Anticipation

Chicago beat New England on Thursday and gets ten days of rest — the single best scheduling edge on this board. Seattle gets Lumen Field and the home crowd. The rest edge keeps this under 60; the venue keeps it Seattle.

Swing factor

Seattle's health coming out of tonight's Chiefs game; Chicago's quarterback play on the road in the league's loudest building.

Change log

Oct 25: Initial early call posted at 59%.
